My Braces Journey 2013 (UNLV)
1st appointment(August 16)- dental evaluation by Doctor Streifer (residency) , they accept my case. Yay! This is it! I paid $250 for the paperwork and the remaining $2500 will be in payment plan.
2nd Appointment (August 17)- Impressions, measurements, bite measurement, X-rays, photos (mug shot) , mouth photos. Kind of uncomfortable because they putting different equipment and stuff in your mouth. I've been sitting in the Dental chair for almost an hour, the stainless spatula what really hurts because it widen my mouth and scratch the side of the mouth because They want you to wide open your mouth as big as you can the better pictures. They mold my mouth and made 3 pairs all
And two mold of my BITE. Then after that they sent me to the X-ray room and instructed how to get a perfect and clear x-rays of my mouth. ( tounge on the roof of your mouth) .
3rd Appointment (August 23)- 3D Xrays (10 mins)
Advised to wait for couple of weeks for my insurance to reply on pre-authorization request, after that I will go back to the clinic for the Dentist to discuss the Treatment, Plan and financial matter before they starts working on my case. I want this thing to get DONE before my school starts:( I still have one full month anyways. Let's see what will happen next!!! I am so excited day after day. It's really a nice feeling when you looking forward with something
August 24 ( wednesday) My Orthodontist called me asking for my current Dentist informations and will contact him about my current Dental records , to make sure that everything is okay before they going to start with my Braces. He even suggested that they might send me to a Endodontist because I had this Root Canal before on my front teeth. Because again, they want to make sure that this will not cause any problem while I am on my braces treatment. He told me that he going to contact me for what will be the next step. I keep telling them that , I do not have any discomfort or pain with regards to my Root Canal. So I guess I just need to wait for couple if days whats gonna happen next.
August 29 ( Monday) - My dentist texted me that he set up an appointment for Endodontist to look at my two teeth at front. I hope this is not a sign of delay for my upcoming braces treatment:(
August 5- My orthodontist advised me to see a private endodontist since their clinic havent scheduled me in a week:(
August 6- scheduled an Endo Evaluation at my regular dentist in Augusta Dental
August 7- got my dentist check up and refer me now to Endodontist to take a look at my root canal. It is getting stressful for me now. I am tired of seeing dental clinics. I hope it will not be another root canal treatment nor surgery.😔
August 14- got my Endo specialist appointment and they found an infection in one of my front teeth. They start my 1st treatment for a Root Canal that just last for 20-30 mins. There was no pain at all as I was expecting compare to my Last root canal 3 years ago. The Endodontist did a great Job! One more treatment and Im done and so ready for my braces to be put on.
August 28-Just about to put into my braces, husband told me that we got our orders to move into different base (Alaska). Everything was shattered. I cancelled the treatment to make sure I will not be responsible for all the follow up and treatment in the whole brace treatment.
June 2014- We moved to Alaska. Let's see where this journey will go!
I had no idea how much actually went into getting braces. I thought it was all about getting x-rays and getting a mold made. Reading how much you have to go through would surely discourage the majority of people already hesitant to go through the process. I decided to chunk down the steps to not overwhelm me and it made it easier.
ReplyDeleteIt is not my intention to discouraged people but to inspired them that it is never too late to start, I am 36 years old and I decided to push it through!
